Printing, copying, & scanning
Information Technology Services offers several printing and imaging services to researchers. There are multifunction printing devices on each floor for copying, scanning, color printing, and black and white printing. We also offer a wide-format poster printing service.
You can register for copying and scanning by emailing or visiting the ITS Help Desk. Anyone registered for copying is automatically registered for scanning.
You will need to know your NetID and Active Directory password and the CFOP (account) that you wish to charge to. Note that printing and copying can be charged to valid CFOPs only. We cannot accept payment by any other means.
ITS provides black and white and color copying on the first through fifth floors of the institute. The copiers support standard letter sized (8.5"x11") paper. Anyone wishing to copy must first register by emailing or visiting the ITS Help Desk. After your registration is processed, your i-card will grant you access to the copiers.
ITS also offers a scanning service. All copiers have the ability to scan documents and photos to four different file formats: PDF, JPEG, TIFF, and MTIFF. These digital copies can be sent via email. The email address given when registering will be the default, or you can type in a different one by hand.
Anyone registered for copying is already registered for scanning, and this service is free to these individuals. After your registration is processed, select “Scan to Email” on the control panel of any multifunction printing devices and log in using your i-card.
Standard black and white, color printing
Currently, ITS has black and white and color laserjet printers located on the first through fifth floors. The printers support standard letter sized (8.5"x11") paper only. Anyone wishing to print must first register using our secure web form.

The Beckman Public Printing System offers the ability to print confidential or sensitive documents securely. Choosing to print securely sends a document to the secure queue. Rather than printing immediately, the user must first log in to the printer and release the job manually.
- Install the secure version of the printer Public-secure; use this print queue when secure printing.
- Log in to the printer by scanning your i-card.
- At the printer, select the option Equitrac Follow You.
- Touch the box next to the job to be released; a checkmark should appear.
- Select Print. The command may take several seconds to process.

Refunds will not be issued for B&W or color prints or copies. Accounts will not be charged for the header page on print jobs. Refunds for wide-format color poster prints will only be given for errors resulting from technical malfunctions of the printers and printing system.
Printout retention policy
All printouts, including poster prints, that have not been picked up from their respective areas within 30 days will be considered abandoned and will be discarded. Please make sure to retrieve your printouts in a timely manner.
