The Huang Fund, which supports both the Thomas and Margaret Huang Award for Graduate Research and the Thomas and Margaret Huang Graduate Fellowship, was established by Image Formation and Processing Group alumni James J. Kuch (M.S., '94, electrical engineering) and Chang Wen Chen (Ph.D., '92, electrical engineering).  The late Professor Emeritus Thomas Huang advised more than 100 students during his career, which spanned five decades and three major research universities (MIT, Purdue and Illinois). He was a founder of the Image Formation and Processing group and a long-term co-chair of the HCII main research theme.
