Biography

Edward McAuley is a Professor in the Departments of Kinesiology and Psychology at the University of Illinois and is a member of the Human Perception and Performance group. His primary research agenda focuses on relationships among physical activity, aging, and psychological function.

Honors

Campus Award for Excellence in Undergraduate Teaching, 2003; College of Applied Life Studies Excellence in Undergraduate Teaching Award, 2003; College of Applied Life Studies Excellence in Undergraduate Teaching Award, 2002;Arnold O. Beckman Research Award, 1994; University Scholar, University of Illinois, 1993-1996.

Research

Professor McAuley collaborates closely with Professor Arthur Kramer of the Beckman Institute examining the effects of aerobic fitness training on brain function and structure in older adults. In addition, he collaborates with Professor Karl Rosengren studying physical activity influences on psychological and motor function and their relation to disability and function in older adults.
