The Beckman Bulletin is a monthly digest from the director of the Beckman Institute. The Bulletin is sent to all faculty and staff. Each issue will highlight the latest happenings from around the Institute.

Haferkamp Awardee Named

Congratulations to Ashley Holloway, the recipient of the 2013 Erik Haferkamp Memorial Award. This award allows a promising undergraduate neuroscientist to pursue research at the Beckman Institute during the summer. More on Ashley and the award.

Beckman Graduate Fellows Announced

Pauline Banqued, April Colette, Matt Gelber, Anuj Girdhar, Michael Odarczenko, Brennan Payne, Brendon Smith, and Renjie Zhou are the 2013 Beckman Graduate Fellows. The program allows U of I grad students to pursue interdisciplinary research at the Institute. Find out more on the Fellows and their research interests.

Emergency Action Plan

The Beckman Emergency Action Plan is now available on the Intranet. You will have to log in to access. The plan explains what to do in case of an emergency, who you should contact in case of an emergency, and provides the list of floor coordinators, who are responsible for personnel in their areas. It is important to be familiar with the document.

Beckman Communications Resources

The Communications Office has recently created Beckman Institute stylized text that can be downloaded for use on posters, in Powerpoint presentations, for lab materials, or other printed or digital materials. Coming soon, a new Powerpoint template!

Beckman Volunteer Opportunity

A group from Beckman will be volunteering to help build a Habit for Humanity house for Tamika Dorris, who works in the Beckman Cafeteria. We will be volunteering on Saturday, June 15, and on Saturday, July 13. If you are interested in joining that group, please register athttp://www.volunteerup.com/Login.asp?w=i&o=59
