Ashley Lenhart, a Beckman postdoc, has been awarded an Arnold O. Beckman Postdoctoral Fellowship. The 2025 fellowship program, given by the Arnold and Mabel Beckman Foundation, will award over $4.3 million in total funding to its 14 fellows, all of whom conduct research in the areas of chemical sciences and chemical instrumentation.

Lenhart develops methods to analyze molecules related to inflammation in brain and muscle tissue. Her current work with the Chan Zuckerberg Biohub Chicago aims to study these molecules in order to better understand inflammation – which is related to diseases including cancer, heart disease, and COVID-19 – in order to detect and treat it.

"Receiving a postdoctoral fellowship from the Beckman Foundation is an incredible honor and a meaningful opportunity to pursue research that I hope will impact not only the scientific community, but also the public through communication, outreach and the broader impacts of this work,” Lenhart said. “This fellowship affirms the importance of my research path and serves as invaluable support for scientific exploration, carried out in memory of Dr. Beckman.”
