Beckman Institute faculty member Art Kramer gave expert testimony in Washington, D.C. Tuesday to a United States Senate Subcommittee holding hearings on Alzheimer's disease.

Kramer testified to the Senate Subcommittee on Retirement and Aging hearing on Alzheimer's. Kramer gave a prepared statement and then answered questions from the Senators about his research into the effects of exercise on cognition and other topics such as interventions that might help prevent the loss of cognitive function.

The Subcommittee has oversight of issues affecting older Americans, such as scams perpetrated on seniors and the health of the aging population, including diseases like Alzheimer's.

At Beckman, Kramer is Co-chair of the Human-Computer Intelligent Interaction research initiative, Director of the Biomedical Imaging Center, and Co-director of the Center for Healthy Minds.
