Inviting applications for the Erik Haferkamp Memorial Award

Undergraduate students conducting research in neuroscience are invited to apply for the Erik Haferkamp Memorial Award. Applications are due March 24.

In honor of Erik Haferkamp’s life and achievements, his family, friends, and colleagues established the Erik Haferkamp Memorial Fund. The Fund allows for undergraduate students conducting research in neuroscience to pursue research at the Beckman Institute during the summer. The Fund is pleased to offer one $3,000 award in 2014. Applications are due at noon on Monday, March 24, 2014.

Erik was a promising undergraduate researcher who joined Justin Rhodes’ laboratory at the Beckman Institute as a research assistant in spring 2007. He proved to be an outstanding student who dedicated a significant amount of his time to the lab from 2007 until his death in 2010. The award honors Erik's contributions to society, neuroscience, and his passion for research.

The Erik Haferkamp Memorial Fund is made possible by the generous support of Erik's family including his parents, Bonnie and David Haferkamp, and numerous extended family, friends, and colleagues.
