Yuliy Baryshnikov, a professor of mathematics, has accepted an affiliate faculty appointment at the Beckman Institute.
One of his research interests is topological data analysis, which deals with the recovery of the model, or the space of parameters underlying the observations, from these observations. He collaborates with Fatima Hussain to apply these techniques; in particular, to recover physiological markers of diseases like tinnitus that are difficult to diagnose.
His research is conducted within the Mechanisms of Cognitive Control Working Group in the Intelligent Systems research theme.
