Thomas & Margaret Huang award and fellowship recipients

A graduate fellowship and two annual awards at the Beckman Institute honor Thomas and Margaret Huang. These awards support graduate students in human-computer intelligent interaction at the institute and receive funding from the Thomas and Margaret Huang Fund for Graduate Research, which was established by alumni in 2010.

The Huang Fund, which supports both the Thomas and Margaret Huang Award for Graduate Research and the Thomas and Margaret Huang Graduate Fellowship, was established by Image Formation and Processing Group alumni James J. Kuch (M.S., '94, electrical engineering) and Chang Wen Chen (Ph.D., '92, electrical engineering).  The late Professor Emeritus Thomas Huang advised more than 100 students during his career, which spanned five decades and three major research universities (MIT, Purdue, and Illinois). He was a founder of the Image Formation and Processing group and a long-term co-chair of the HCII main research theme.
