  • Biography

    Zhi-Pei Liang is a professor in the Department of Electrical and Computer Engineering and a full-time faculty member in the Beckman Bioimaging Science and Technology Group. His fields of professional interest are magnetic resonance imaging, imaging informatics, and machine learning.

    Zhi-Pei Liang's work in the Beckman Institute is primarily focused on two areas: (1) fast and efficient magnetic resonance imaging methods and (2) intelligent computational algorithms for image processing and pattern recognition. In the first area, he and his students are developing advanced data acquisition and image reconstruction schemes to enable high-resolution spatiotemporal imaging of moving objects. In the second area, they are focusing on developing statistical and kernel-based learning methods with application, registration, and recognition.

    Liang's sources of research support are the NIH and the NSF.
