Meet Kristy Arnett, who joined Beckman Facilities and Operations in October 2022.
Describe your role at the Beckman Institute.
As the assistant director of facilities, my daily responsibilities encompass space management, annual space audits and serving as the Beckman representative to campus Facilities & Services. I perform the planning, estimation, budgeting and coordination of maintenance, repairs, remodeling and major construction projects.
Additionally, I handle work order submissions and track their progress, provide customer service to all building occupants and ensure safe laboratory practices and inspections. I also maintain biological safety cabinet and fume hood certifications and oversee the Beckman Security Office to ensure a secure work environment. My role also includes generating operation reports, managing budgets and leading the operations team, which covers security, shipping and receiving, inventory and building maintenance. Furthermore, I am the primary emergency contact for Beckman 24/7 for public safety and facilities and services.
