Describe your role at the Beckman Institute.
I have the exciting role of planning and implementing outreach programs and events at Beckman and within the Champaign-Urbana community. I work with Beckman researchers, faculty, students, and partners in our local community.
What is something that people might not know about your position?
People might not know that I’m here! This is a brand-new position, and I am so excited to learn more and connect with those at Beckman to explore new opportunities. Over the summer, I was able to have several wonderful conversations. If I haven’t met you yet though, I’d love the opportunity to connect!
What are you most proud of?
I am most proud of my family. They are so supportive, and I love watching my two daughters learn and grow.
Outside of your professional experience, what are you an expert in?
This is a hard one! I’m definitely not an expert, but something many people may not know is that I played college softball at Webster University. I was a pitcher, and since I stopped playing, I have enjoyed coaching local teams.
When and where are your happiest?
I am probably my happiest when I’m running outdoors. I find that this is a great way to get reenergized and stay active.
What is your personal motto?
Going back to my elementary education background, I would say Dr. Wayne W. Dyer’s quote, “When given the choice between being right or being kind, choose kind,” is one of my favorites!
What is your favorite fall activity?
I love fall! My favorite fall activities include being outdoors with my family. My husband, two daughters, and our Labrador love to spend time on the farm during harvest season! It’s fun to ride in the combine with my 2-year-old and 5-year-old and visiting the pumpkin patch is always a highlight of the season!
