The Beckman Bulletin is a monthly digest from the director of the Beckman Institute. The Bulletin is sent to all faculty and staff. Each issue will highlight the latest happenings from around the Institute.

It gives me great pleasure to announce that Mike Devocelle will be the Beckman Institute’s new Associate Director for Administration. Mike will be joining us from the Office of Business and Financial Services at the University of Illinois where he is the Director of Contracts and Purchases. Mike was previously with the Beckman Institute when he served as the Director of Budget and Resource Planning from 2004-2008. With an academic background in business (MBA, Illinois; BA in Business Administration, Illinois State University), extensive experience in several units at Illinois, auditing experience in industry, and military experience, Mike possesses the ability to understand complex issues facing a multidisciplinary unit such as the Beckman Institute. He also has the skills needed to support the Institute’s growth and visibility, both nationally and internationally. Mike will assume his new position on August 1, 2011.

A TechMix! event will be held at the Beckman Institute on Thursday, August 25 from 5-7 p.m. in the Atrium. This networking event brings together technology professionals from a variety of industries in the region. Local technology companies, service organizations, and entrepreneurs will have informational tables at the event. The event is sponsored by the Champaign County Economic Development Corporation and the University of Illinois Office of Corporate Relations.
