The 12-year history and success of Bugscope, the K-12 educational outreach program of the Beckman Institute’s Microscopy Suite, is the subject of a feature report in Microscopy Today magazine. Written by Microscopy Suite manager Scott Robinson, Cate Wallace and Chas Conway of the Microscopy Suite and former Bugscope specialists Ann Ray and Umesh Thakkar, the article highlights the impact Bugscope has had on hundreds of classrooms, details its operation, and explains how thousands of students worldwide have been able to enjoy the rare opportunity to have remote access to an advanced scanning electron microscope. Robinson, Conway, and Thakkar have been a part of the Bugscope program since it was launched with a session on March 19, 1999.
